This Grade 1 math unit reflects my approach to creating meaningful, hands-on learning experiences that connect to students’ lives and communities. Through role-play, discussion, and real-life applications, students explore money as value, choice, and exchange while developing financial literacy and decision-making skills.
This unit is something I am especially proud of because it integrates Indigenous perspectives, experiential learning, and student-centered teaching in a way that makes math meaningful and engaging.
