Curriculum Connections

The BC Curriculum supports a flexible and student centered approach to learning that I really connect with as a future teacher. I like how it focuses on Big Ideas, Curricular Competencies, and Content, allowing students to build both understanding and skills. It encourages learning that is hands-on, meaningful, and connected to real-life, which is something I value in my own teaching practice. I also appreciate how it allows for flexibility so I can meet the diverse needs and identities of my students. As someone who completed my schooling in the Northwest Territories, I find it especially interesting that the NT has since adopted the BC Curriculum. Although this change happened after I graduated, it reinforces my appreciation for this approach and strengthens my confidence in using it as a future educator.
