This section highlights my passion for health, physical education, and active living. Through my experiences as an athlete, coach, official, and active participant in a variety of physical activities, I have developed a strong appreciation for the role movement plays in overall well-being. I believe that physical activity supports not only physical health, but also confidence, resilience, and connection to others. These experiences have shaped my values and continue to influence my approach to teaching, as I aim to create inclusive, engaging, and meaningful opportunities for all students to be active and experience success. Athletic Experience (Team NT)
Through my involvement with Team NT as an athlete, assistant coach, mission staff, and assistant chef de mission, I have developed strong leadership, teamwork, and communication skills. I’ve had the opportunity to represent Team NT at the Arctic Winter Games, Canada Winter Games, Canada Summer Games, Western Canada Summer Games, North American Indigenous Games, and the National Aboriginal Hockey Championships. These experiences have taught me the importance of supporting others, building confidence, and working toward shared goals. Being part of a team environment has also helped me understand the value of encouragement, perseverance, and creating positive experiences for all participants.
Coaching Officiating & Leadership
As a coach, athlete, and official in Northern Games, Dene Games, and archery, I have gained valuable experience in leadership, organization, and mentorship. These roles have strengthened my ability to support participants, create positive and inclusive environments, and encourage growth through sport and activity. Through these experiences, I have learned how to adapt to different needs and ensure that everyone feels supported and capable.
Active Living & Personal Interests
In my personal life, I value staying active through activities such as going to the gym, hiking, and participating in sports. I am also part of an intramural volleyball team, “Pass or Fail,” which reflects my enjoyment of teamwork and community. I also enjoy activities such as golf, disc golf, and snowboarding, which contribute to my overall well-being and balance.
Land-Based & Cultural Physical Activity
The Trails of Our Ancestors canoe trip is another meaningful experience that has shaped my understanding of physical activity and learning. This two-week trip follows the same routes that our ancestors travelled hundreds of years ago along their traplines and between communities. This experience takes place every year, and I plan to continue taking part in it for the foreseeable future. Taking part in this trip, especially alongside my dad, my brother, and my sister, was extremely powerful and deepened my connection to the land, culture, and community. It reinforced the importance of land-based and experiential learning, showing how physical activity can be connected to identity, history, and meaningful learning experiences.
My First Degree: Bachelor of Arts in Physical Education

I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Physical Education, which has provided me with a strong foundation in movement, health, and physical activity. Through this degree, I developed an understanding of how physical activity supports both physical and mental well-being, as well as the importance of promoting active and healthy lifestyles. This background has shaped my passion for physical education and continues to influence my approach to teaching. As a future educator, I aim to incorporate movement and active learning into my classroom to support the overall development and well-being of my students.

Connection to Teaching
These experiences strongly influence my approach to teaching. I believe physical activity supports not only physical health, but also confidence, resilience, and social development. I also recognize the importance of land-based and culturally connected learning experiences. As a future educator, I aim to create inclusive and engaging opportunities for all students to be active, build skills, and experience success, while also connecting learning to culture, community, and the land.
